Building Basics

The heartbeat of Brick Rigs is its robust editor. Whether you are constructing a simple car or a complex aircraft, understanding the basics is essential.

The Editor Interface

When you enter the editor (default key B or accessed via the menu), you are greeted with the build grid.

  • Brick Palette: On the left, choose from hundreds of bricks including structural, mechanical, and decorative.

  • Properties Panel: On the right, modify the properties of selected bricks (color, material, input channels).

Core Components

Every functional vehicle needs a few key components:

  1. Seat: You need a place to sit! The Driver Seat is the brain of your vehicle, processing your inputs.

  2. Engine: Provides power. Connect it to wheels or rotors.

  3. Wheels/Axles: Transfer engine power to movement. Ensure they are connected to the engine logic.

Connection Logic

This is where Brick Rigs shines. Usage of channels is key:

  • Input Channels: Map keys (WASD) to actions (Steering, Throttle).

  • Gearbox: Connect engines to wheels via a virtual gearbox system to manage torque.

Tips for Stability

  • Center of Mass: Keep it low to prevent tipping.

  • Aerodynamics: Important for planes, but also affects drag cars.

  • Weight Distribution: Balance your vehicle to ensure smooth handling.
